Man ‘carrying a knife’ actually turned out to be a Harry Potter fan with a wand

Three budding wizards caused quite a spell among residents who feared their toys were deadly weapons.

Firearms officers in Leicestershire were called to a hotel yesterday afterreports of a man carrying a ‘large knife’.

However, officers were instead met with an eager Harry Potter fan, brandishing a wand.

In a comical Facebook post, the officer who attended the scene joked there was ‘no sign of Voldermort’.

PC Ward said that he ‘attended a large hotel in Enderby his morning with a number of firearms officers, following a report of a male inside near the lifts carrying ‘a large knife’.’

After enquiries were made, the officers were quick to establish that it was a ‘Harry Potter fan with a wand’.

While he was unable to reveal whether any spells were cast, he did confirm that ‘no harm was caused to any resident.

Social media users were quick to see the funny side of the mishap, with one commenting ‘Are you being sirius’.

Another recounted a popular spell from the movie franchise, saying: ‘EXPECTO PATROL-MAN’.

One joked that they needed to ‘be more careful when I go out with my wands in future’.

Leicestershire Police have not confirmed which hotel the incident occurred at, but it is believed to be in Enderby.

They have also said it happened at a ‘large hotel’, and the budding wizard was seen inside, near the lifts.
