The wife of one of Vladimir Putin’s allies has been found dead.

Anastasia Demina, 42, was married to politician Valery Demin, and her body was found by her children on May 6 who initially thought she was sleeping.

Her cause of death is unknown but Ukrainian media believe without evidence that Demin killed her.

This is because Anastasia reported to police her husband attacked her upon his return to Moscow from duty in Ukraine in February.

But despite being taken to hospital for a broken shoulder, she was told by People’s Party leaders to withdraw her complaint.

Demin announced her death on Russian social media platform VK and wrote: ‘I am writing this post with tears in my eyes and a lump of grief.

‘On 6th May, my wife, my Nastena, passed away. I really can’t express in words everything that I feel.

‘Sorrow, pain, anger and a feeling of emptiness… Life is divided into “before” and “after”.’

He said Anastasia was the best mother and ‘our sunshine’.

He then strangely wrote: ‘Forgive us all for everything.’

Some media in Russia have reported that Anastasia was depressed and taking painkillers.

Relatives of hers told police her condition had worsened and the pain had intensified and she had complained about panic attacks.

The police investigation into her death is ongoing.
