Dino Crisis is most wanted Capcom sequel and Dante most popular character reveals fan poll

Dino Crisis – it’s about a crisis that occurs involving dinosaurs (Capcom)

Fans think it’s high time there was a Dino Crisis sequel, as they name Devil May Cry 5 as their favourite Capcom game.

Capcom has been having a very good generation so far, with multiple critical and commerical hits, from the Resident Evil games to Street Fighter, and Dragon’s Dogma 2.

They don’t currently have a lot scheduled though, beyond the lower profile Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess and next year’s Monster Hunter Wilds.

That hopefully means new announcements are imminent and given Devil May Cry 5 is now five years old it seems reasonable to assume a new entry might be looming… especially given how popular protagonist Dante seems to be with fans.

To be honest, we suspect that there’s been some sort of illegal voting campaign going on with the Capcom Super Elections, as it does seem unlikely that Devil May Cry 5 would be voted the most popular Capcom game but we’re not going to argue.

Dante was also named the most popular character, with Leon S. Kennedy at number two and Mega Man – who hasn’t starred in a big-selling game for decades – at number three.

If fans have been organising amongst themselves, to fiddle the results, we’re not going to complain though, because they clearly have very good taste when it comes to the most wanted sequel or new game, with Dino Crisis coming in at number one; Mega Man was second and Devil May Cry number three.

Shamefully, however, our beloved Power Stone doesn’t crack the top 10. In fact, apart from Mega Man there’s a curious lack of old school franchises mentioned, except for Breath Of Fire at number 10. Which is a shame, as we could’ve gone for a reboot of Ghosts ‘N Goblins or Bionic Commando.

This was a different question to what remake you would want next, where curiously Dino Crisis didn’t rank at all, even though that’s seemed like the most likely route to a comeback. Especially as it’s the 25th anniversary of the original game this year.

We’ll take either but instead, the most wanted remake was labelled as ‘not in here’ which we’re assuming means it wasn’t part of the multiple options offered. So instead Onimusha 1, 2, and 3 were the most wanted, followed by Breath Of Fire 1, 2, and 3.

Like any good business, Capcom will probably be looking quite closely at these results, especially as a total of 254,148 people voted overall.

The other most interesting question, in regards to their future plans, was what complaint would you like to share about Capcom.

The most common was ‘reboot previous IPs’, which is something that Capcom has said multiple times it will do… but still hasn’t.

The second most popular complaint was that fans had no complaint, which must be nice, and the third that Capcom is being slow with the release of new numbered titles.

It had been hoped that Capcom might announce something new at one or other of the recent summer showcases but unless they’re planning to be at the Nintendo Direct that didn’t happen.

They have occasionally run their own showcases though, so if there is a new announcement soon it’s likely to be via one of those.
