Two women dead, one injured after being swept off rocks in Sydney

Two women have died and another is seriously injured after they were swept off rocks and thrown into the water in Sydney’s south.

Emergency services were first called to the scene at Kurnell about 4.30pm and the women were pulled from the water a short time later.

Paramedics performed CPR on two of the women, but they died at the scene.

The third woman is being treated for hyperthermia and there are concerns she has a spinal injury.

Two bystanders are also being treated for hyperthermia.

It’s believed they tried to help rescue the women.

The area is a popular place for rock fisherman but there is no indication that the women were fishing.

It is also notoriously dangerous. Last month two fishermen died after being swept off rocks along the same stretch of coast.
