Celebs Go Dating star Ella Morgan has revealed she almost quit the reality dating series after a ‘triggering’ experience left her needing therapy.

Ella, 29, who was the first transgender bride in the history of Married at First Sight UK, is now set to be the first transgender contestant on Celebs Go Dating as well.

On MAFS, she initially tied the knot with Nathaniel Valentino, with people rooting for the pair after Ella came out to Nathaniel following their on-screen nuptials.

However, the pair didn’t last the duration, with Ella eventually coupling up with – and later splitting from – Katie Price’s current beau JJ Slater.

With Ella now a regular face on UK reality TV, she’s opened up about her time so far on Celebs Go Dating, where celebrities date regular people from the general public.

In a series of videos on Instagram, she said: ‘I nearly quit [Celebs Go Dating] the other day because it was just getting so much. It was quite triggering. I don’t know what I expected going into this.’

Ella has admitted that meeting people and dating them left her feeling ‘deflated’ after realising ‘a few things’ about herself – ‘It’s been a really weird week’.

She continued: ‘Since MAFS I’ve not really dated anyone. I really thought this was going to be an easy experience. We’ve only been filming a few weeks. Oh my god, it’s amazing but it’s really hard work.

‘It all stems back to certain things and obviously my transition is a big part of it, but I don’t just want my therapist to talk about my transition, I want to talk about life.’

Although she wanted to go into detail about the incident itself, she said that she might ‘get in trouble’ and didn’t want to sacrifice her place on the series.

‘I think this has all stemmed from the brunch the other day. Obviously I’m not going to go into detail – I’m probably not allowed to and I don’t want to get in trouble.’

Before her appearance on Celebs Go Dating, Ella had been spotted sharing a tender moment with Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier at the Baftas afterparty.

‘Bobby and Ella were going for it, it was a proper snog and he went back a couple of times for more,’ a source told The Sun. ‘They were sharing flirty banter and then they pulled each other to one side for a snog by the bar.’

Despite those rumours, it seems dating has been tough on Ella – but she’s said her experiences on the E4 series have inspired her to keep focusing on her journey of self-love.

‘Today I’ve realised [something], and I’m really proud of myself for saying this because it’s quite a taboo subject. Obviously we have therapy on the show and the team do look after you. But after we’ve finished filming, I’ve decided I’m going to pay for a therapist, even if it’s once a week, once a fortnight.’

Ella has been joined on Celebs Go Dating by the likes of former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan, who said she was ‘excited’ to be getting involved with the show after splitting from long-time partner Scott Sinclair in 2022.

She’ll also be dating alongside the likes of former popstar Jamelia, Love Island’s Chris Taylor, and Googlebox’s Stephen Lustig-Webb.

Celebs Go Dating started in 2016 and has broadcast 12 seasons so far.
