Man charged with 70 historical sex offences in regional NSW

An NSW man has been charged with more than 70 historical sex offences relating to alleged underage victims.

Police established a strike force in October 2022 to investigate claims of historic sex abuse in the Central West region of the state.

Investigators allegedly discovered four females had been sexually assaulted between 1974 and 2023, with three of them under the age of 16 at the time.

A 63-year-old man was arrested from a home in Forbes, at 8.45am yesterday following extensive inquiries.

He was charged with 70 offences including, acts of indecency with a girl under 16 years, attempted rape, aggravated indecent assault, aggravated sexual assault, committing an act of indecency, have sexual intercourse with a person aged 14 years or over and under 16 years, aggravated sexual assault, sexual intercourse without consent, sexually touch another person without consent, assault with an act of indecency.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear in court on May 21.

Investigations are ongoing.
