A popular weightlifting bench sold at Dick Smith and Kogan has been recalled after customers were injured when it broke during use.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a national recall of the Fortis Heavy Duty Adjustable FID Weight Bench.

The black bench with red trim can adjust to a flat, inclined or declined position.

However, it has been found that the welding joint on the seat support may fail during use.

The product was sold both in stores and online across Australia, including Dick Smith retailers and online, kogan.com, mattblatt.com.au and mightyape.com.au.

“There is a risk of injury or property damage if the welding joint fails and the bench moves during use,” the ACCC recall statement read.

“Consumers should stop using the weight bench immediately.”

Anyone who has purchased the product has been advised to contact Kogan on their website or email recalls@kogan.com.au for a refund.
