Actress Anna Paquin attended a red carpet event with the assistance of a cane on Wednesday as it was revealed she has been struggling with an undisclosed health condition.
The two-year battle has left her with mobility problems and speech issues.
She put in an appearance at the premiere of her new film A Bit of Light in New York City, alongside her actor husband Stephen Moyer, 54, who directed her in the indie film.
Anna admitted she’s had a ‘difficult’ time over the last two years but was all smiles as she posed with her spouse, who she met when they co-starred together on hit HBO vampire show True Blood.
The 41-year-old, who wore a black sequinned mini-dress with dark tights and boots, told People: ‘It hasn’t been easy.’
She has not shared the nature of her health condition, but a source told the outlet she is hoping to bounce back, clarifying: ‘[Anna] will hopefully make a full recovery.’

The X-Men star last attended a red carpet back in the autumn of 2022, when she was promoting TV mini-series A Friend of the Family.
However, despite the issues, Anna declared she feels grateful to still be working after starting her career as a child star in The Piano which earned her an Oscar nomination at the age of 11.
When she triumphed at the Academy Awards, she became the second-youngest winner in Oscar history, after Tatum O’Neal won aged 10 in the same category – best supporting actress – in 1974.
Anna told the outlet: ‘My first love was independent filmmaking, that’s how I entered the film industry. I was working with people who were all about telling stories and telling them with integrity and truth.’

In her new film, the star plays an alcoholic mother who loses custody of her children. She said of the role: ‘Not everyone ends up having the journey with motherhood that they have hoped or had planned.’
Noting that everyone is ‘flawed and imperfect’, she revealed that her character Ella is ‘repeating some sort of familial patterns as far as stuffing feelings down’.
‘It’s very relatable because there’s so many ways that people can get in their own way, or sort of learn to cope with trauma,’ she added.
Anna and Stephen first met during their screen test for True Blood and he previously shared that he knew she was the one after just a couple of days working together.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Stephen explained: ‘We were both single at the time, and there was just this kind of spark.
‘[Then] I didn’t see her for three months, and she had gone from having dark hair to this beautiful blond, and I had gone from being blond to this dark vampire.
‘By day three or four – oh, this is going to sound so syrupy – but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. It was within seconds, really, and it just became a thing.’
The couple married in 2010 and share a twin boy and girl, Charlie and Poppy, who are 11.
She is also step-mum to Stephen’s adult kids, Billy and Lilac, from his marriage to journalist Lorien Haynes.
