A haunting new Netflix series has revealed several shocking otherworldly encounters, including one that rocked a quiet American town when two men were abducted by aliens.

The sceptics amongst you may seem unconvinced, but when Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker were taken onboard a spaceship on October 11, 1973, their stories seemed to persuade those around them, and sent everyone spiralling into terror.

Files of the Unexplained airs their story, alongside seven more bizarre encounters, from group disappearances, ghosts, and mysterious creatures across North America.

It involves witness testimony, archived news stories and expert analysis to break down what really happened, and the results are petrifying.

The first of eight episodes in the docuseries explores the Pascagoula Abduction, an alleged UFO sighting and alien abduction that has been considered to be one of the most compelling accounts of extra-terrestrial life.

Two local men, Charles and Calvin, had been fishing on a river when they claimed to have been abducted, and revealed what happened to them onboard the spaceship.

In the Netflix series, Charles’ son, who was schoolfriends with Calvin at the time, recalls his father telling him the story, and how terrified he was, even fearing having a heart attack.

At first, Charles heard a ‘zipping sound’ when an aircraft from the sky suddenly approached the ground and hovered. The men claimed it had lights on and one end of it opened out.

‘It seemed to hold me spellbound,’ Charles says, in a voice re-enactment in the Netflix series.

Out of the ‘spaceship’ came three ‘aliens’, who somehow didn’t touch the ground but floated towards them.

‘I don’t remember seeing any eyes,’ he adds, explaining they had ‘pincers’ or claw-like limbs where a humans’ hands would be.

Charlie claimed that as soon as the aliens grabbed him, he was left ‘totally paralysed’, while Calvin went limp and fainted after witnessing what was going on.

They were both taken inside the spacecraft, and recalled how it felt like being inside a lightbulb due to the searing lights.

Once inside, Charlie was left alone, but claimed there was a ‘big eye that seemed to come out directly from the wall’ and approached him, scanning him, while he was unable to close his eyes or move.

He was then left back outside where he had been picked up, and found Calvin also lying there, in a strange position with his arms outstretched.

In the days, months, and even years that followed, Charlie began to tell his story across news outlets, giving interviews despite the doubt that followed them.

Some accused the pair of being drunk, with no hard evidence to prove their surreal claims.

Others believed the allegations, leaving them terrified of being abducted themselves from their local town in Mississippi.

In early 2020, a new recording emerged that shut down many doubts, hearing Charlie and Calvin speak about the extraordinary event hours after it happened.

The night they reported the abduction, Pascagoula police officers recorded the men without their knowledge, and though they thought they were alone in the room, they were still terrified, stuck to their stories, and absolutely convinced that the experience they underwent was a reality.

And though the town may have been divided, their stories never changed – and they weren’t the only ones to come forward with similar experiences.

One resident who had been living nearby on October 11, recalls seeing something like ‘6K LED lights’ (which didn’t exist back then), while another says she watched ‘rotating, blue’ lights for 20 minutes that suddenly stopped and stayed put.

A third person reveals they had stopped at a red light in their car that night, and couldn’t make out the object that was flying ‘so low’, or hear any engine noises.

‘The radio started acting crazy and we were freaking out,’ she says.

The UFO was said to be travelling at a high speed and ‘shot off’ before disappearing into the night sky.

But the witnesses lived in fear of telling anyone and not being believed, as one says: ‘It was taboo, they couldn’t relate it to being in the Bible or being a part of something that God created.’

Charlie however recounted the abduction to multiple news outlets, not missing an opportunity to make money from the experience.

He even claimed to have been visited by aliens a second time, in 1974, and said he had a feeling that someone was watching him, and heard a voice like a radio saying: ‘We mean you no harm and we will be back.’

While Charlie told anyone who would listen about the alien abduction, Calvin was left far more troubled, and felt like he had nobody to talk to or unable to live a normal life.

‘You’ve always got this in the back of your head,’ he says in the Netflix series.

The Files of the Unexplained is available to watch on Netflix.
