Skins star Mitch Hewer looks unrecognisable nearly two decades after starring as Maxxie Oliver in the beloved series.

The actor, now 34, appeared on the first two seasons of the E4 teen drama, which first hit screens in 2007.

As part of the show’s ‘first generation’, he appeared alongside Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel, Daniel Kaluuya and Joe Dempsie.

His character was known for being a brilliant dancer whose favourite things were ‘toast, boys, dancing, drawing, Arcade Fire and the Sistine Chapel’.

After last being seen as Maxxie back in 2008, Mitch now looks totally different with his trademark blonde hair now gone and the actor instead sporting a beard.

Often sharing updates on his life on social media, Mitch has recently posted snaps with his family, as well as fitness photos.

His most recent, shared in December 2023, show him and his family enjoying the sights at Disneyland Paris.

Mitch and his partner Tash, a social worker, welcomed a daughter called Aria Isabella in December 2021.

When announcing her birth, he commented the photo: ‘This little pout.’

Some of his past videos on his social media channels include him watching and reacting to old episodes of Skins.

After leaving the series in 2008, Mitch went on to play Danny Miller in Britannia High that same year.

From 2016 until 2017 he then played Mickey Ellisson in Casualty.

He also appeared on Xtra Factor, This Morning, Richard and Judy’s New Position and on the BBC comedy show Never Mind the Buzzcocks alongside team captain Davina McCall and singer Alesha Dixon.

In 2014, he appeared as Ben in Nightlight and as Steven Stevens in Behaving Badly, the film adaptation of Ric Browde’s novel While I’m Dead Feed the Dog.

Created by father-and-son duo Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, Skins followed the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol, through the two years of sixth form.

Its controversial storylines explored issues like dysfunctional families, mental illness (such as depression, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder), adolescent sexuality, gender, substance abuse, death, and bullying.

Skins is streaming on Channel 4.
