TV personality and model Danielle Lloyd has revealed she has been hospitalised.

The reality star, 40, sparked concern from fans when she shared a snap to Instagram on Wednesday showing herself in what looked like a hospital gown, wearing black tights and fluffy purple slippers.

Danielle, who is a former Miss Great Britain and Miss England, didn’t provide an explanation behind the photo but added a graphic of a surgeon in scrubs.

As fans worried about the meaning of the photo, hours later she shared another photograph from a hospital bed.

It showed her hand with a cannula inserted, a well as a hospital band with her name visible on her wrist.

She revealed she had undergone surgery and reassured followers that she was ‘alive and well’.

In text over the photo, she wrote: ‘Alive and well after surgery thanks for all your lovely messages.’

Danielle didn’t give any details on the surgery and it is not known what her hospitalisation was for.

It comes after the mum-of-five revealed in July last year that she was rushed to A&E after experiencing heavy bleeding, saying she initially believed this was due to a miscarriage.

However doctors broke the news to the star that they had discovered cysts on both ovaries, one of which was the size of a tennis ball, as well as thickening in the lining of her womb.

It led to Danielle having a terrifying wait for the results of a biopsy to determine if she had endometrial cancer: a disease where malignant cells form in the tissues of the lining of the uterus.

After six weeks, she thankfully was given the all-clear but was told she had adenomyosis, a condition which causes endometrial tissue in the lining of the uterus to grow into the muscular wall.

She revealed to Closer later in the year that she was to undergo surgery to ‘burn off the lining of my womb,’ a treatment known as endometrial ablation.

It meant a high risk of complications if she were to fall pregnant, and she said she had opted for sterilisation surgery to remove the risk of getting pregnant in the future, even though she had hoped for a sixth child.

She told the outlet: ‘The idea of not having the option to have another child is hard to come to terms with.

‘I would have liked for Autumn to have a little sister, but I am grateful to have five healthy children, and maybe this is God’s way of saying, “You’ve had enough now”.’

Danielle has three sons – Archie, 14, Harry, 13, and George, 10 – with her ex-husband Jamie O’Hara, as well as son Ronnie, six and daughter Autumn, two, with husband Michael O’Neill.
