Man critically hurt in Latrobe Valley shooting

A man is fighting for life after a shooting in a town in Victoria’s Gippsland region.

Witnesses told police a man was shot about 8.15pm on Monday during an altercation between two groups of men in Moe, about 120 kilometres south-east of Melbourne in the Latrobe Valley.

The 28-year-old was rushed to hospital with critical injuries from the Hawker Street address, where a crime scene has been set up.

Police, who arrested five men, said they believed the members of the two groups knew each other.

The five men were helping detectives with their inquiries, police said.
