Taylor Swift has shared a heartbreaking statement after the death of a fan ahead of her concert in Brazil on Friday night.

The Love Story singer, 33, was performing her sold-out show in Rio de Janeiro, but took to Instagram straight after to share the sad news.

She penned: ‘I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.

‘I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.

‘There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.’

She went on: ‘I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to think about it.

‘I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.

‘This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.’

According to reports by Brazilian outlets, Ana Clara Benevides died aged 23.

It was claimed she fell ill during the concert at the Nilton Santos stadium, where she fainted and was rushed to hospital.

Reports state she died of cardiorespiratory arrest.

The Eras Tour has two further shows planned in Rio de Janeiro tonight, Saturday, and tomorrow.

The news comes just days after Taylor was forced to reschedule a Buenos Aires concert due to bad weather, just hours before it was planned to go ahead.

‘I love a rain show but I’m never going to endanger my fans or my fellow performers and crew,’ she said in a brief statement.

‘We’ve rescheduled tonight’s Buenos Aires show for Sunday due to the weather being so truly chaotic it would be unsafe to try and put on this concert.’
